China has executed Fan Weiqiu, 62, who killed 35 people by driving his car into crowds at a sports centre in Zhuhai last November. Fan’s rampage on November 11 was reportedly driven by rage over his failed marriage.
State media described the incident as the country’s deadliest public attack in a decade. Fan was sentenced to death three weeks ago, with authorities stressing the need for swift and severe punishment to deter similar acts.

In a separate case, Xu Jiajin, 21, was also executed on Monday for a stabbing spree at a college campus in Wuxi, where he killed eight people in November. Xu’s actions in China were linked to frustrations over failing an exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship pay, police revealed.
Both attacks occurred in China within days of each other, shocking the nation and prompting Chinese officials to intensify security measures and crack down on public violence.
