Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has said that ex-Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi informed him about mercenaries recruited to destroy the party.
El-Rufai said Obi warned him that, like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), mercenaries had been engaged to provoke a problem in the LP.
He made the announcement in Abuja during the National Conference for the Strengthening of Democracy in Nigeria.
According to El-Rufai:
“There are internal mercenaries in the PDP, hired and motivated to destroy the party. The Labour Party is also facing similar issues. Peter Obi himself told me, ‘I don’t know what’s happening in the party I contested with’.”
El-Rufai also stated that he no longer recognizes the All Progressives Congress (APC) since the party’s organs had not convened in the past two years.
The former governor maintained that the APC had veered from its fundamental objective.
He emphasized that the ruling party was formed to solve an issue, which would not be feasible again.
