Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has sparked conversations online with his latest message addressing unhealed parents.
Taking to his Instagram page, the outspoken Yoruba actor declared that a child’s first enemy can sometimes be their own parent, particularly those who harbor unresolved emotional wounds.
Fabiyi highlighted how some parents engage in harmful behaviors such as lies, blackmail, and manipulative acts, prioritizing their own interests at the expense of their children’s well-being.
Sharing his views, he wrote:
“A child’s first enemy is an unhealed parent.
Some parents are enemies of their children. They engage in terrible lies, blackmail, and dirty wickedness in their favor at the expense of their children.
Children, beware.”
The post drew mixed reactions from followers:
- Chrixmajoy wrote, “Hmm, deep.”
- Darmilahrey_044 shared, “For real, you are right, sir. I had the same experience when I went to live with my dad.”
- Eric_temmy001 added, “No be lie.”
Fabiyi has never shied away from voicing his thoughts, even when controversial. Last October, the actor revealed that he had to flee the country, citing threats to his life over his fight for justice and human rights. He recounted surviving assassination attempts and relocating to a safe country where the system protects its citizens without bias.
Additionally, Fabiyi made headlines last year when he humorously blamed Nigeria’s poor-quality condoms for the conception of his son, Akorede. He claimed the family planning failure was due to substandard imports and criticized the government for neglecting population control measures. According to him, the resulting financial burden should be shared with the government.
