Queen Ashley, the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has expressed profound gratitude to her husband and to God as she shared her testimony of divine faithfulness.
In a video from what is believed to be their son Ademakinwa’s naming ceremony, Queen Ashley described the Ooni as an “amazing soul” and celebrated him for giving her the greatest gift — their son. She also testified of God’s goodness in their lives, thanking Him for her health, her husband’s health, and their son’s well-being.
In another emotional moment from the event, Queen Ashley sang a special song to God, sharing that only those familiar with her history with the Ooni could understand the depth of her gratitude.
I promised God that when I have a baby, I will sing a special song to Him in front of people,” she said. “If you know my history with my husband, you will understand this song and its meaning.
You didn’t just make me give birth; my husband is hale and hearty, I am also healthy, and our baby is hale and hearty, too. Lord, I am grateful.”
Queen Ashley’s testimony also reflects the challenges she and the Ooni have faced in their relationship. In September last year, the couple announced the birth of their son, with Queen Ashley revealing how their journey had been marked by trials, including the loss of twins. Despite the adversities, she declared God’s faithfulness, emphasizing their victory over the challenges they encountered.
Queen Ashley’s marriage to the Ooni in October 2023 was a long-awaited dream come true. After years as the monarch’s concubine, her royal wedding in Ile Ife was a grand affair attended by many dignitaries.
Earlier this year, she reflected on her life’s journey, expressing gratitude for God’s unwavering love and faithfulness. She noted how the first three months of the year were a testament to His goodness and a reminder that His plans are always perfect.
