The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the recent deadly attacks on communities in Plateau State, which claimed numerous lives, including children, and caused widespread destruction.
In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF described the attacks as another grim reminder of the worsening security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region.
The Forum urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in areas severely affected by banditry. It also called for the immediate establishment of early-warning systems and quick-response mechanisms to help prevent further violence.
Also, the ACF called for stronger intelligence gathering and thorough legal prosecution of those behind the attacks.
It demanded that the government provide compensation for families of victims, as well as medical care for the injured.
The Forum emphasized the importance of empowering community leaders, religious figures, and civil society groups to foster peace and encourage dialogue.
It also called on the National Assembly and security agencies to show greater accountability and commitment to their roles.
While affirming its support for the Federal Government, Plateau State authorities, and the security forces, the ACF urged Nigerians to report credible information about criminal or terrorist activities.
ACF stressed that urgent, unified action is necessary to address the worsening security crisis threatening the lives and future of Nigerians.
