In the early hours of Friday, May 9, 2025, troops from Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Operation Hadin Kai, successfully neutralised a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
The operation, part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV, was executed by the 29 Task Force Brigade in the Karagawaru area of Kaga Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops set up an ambush at a known crossing point. At approximately 12:30 a.m., they engaged the suspect, who was believed to be gathering intelligence for Boko Haram and its ISWAP faction.
During the confrontation, the ISWAP suspect was neutralised. The troops recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun and a bicycle, which were believed to have been used by the informant for movement and surveillance activities.
The soldiers returned safely to their base around 3:40 a.m., with no casualties reported. This operation marks another tactical success in the ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.
