Former President Goodluck Jonathan has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, calling for renewed commitment to unity, peace, and shared prosperity.

In his message delivered on Friday, June 6, Jonathan emphasized that the spirit of the festival—centered on sacrifice, faith, and charity—should inspire all Nigerians to work together toward building a stronger and more inclusive nation.

He described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant reminder of the values that bind humanity together, regardless of religious background.

According to him, the lessons of obedience, selflessness, and devotion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim should not only guide spiritual life but also influence how citizens relate with one another and contribute to national development.

Jonathan encouraged Nigerians to embrace the principles of tolerance and mutual respect, urging both leaders and citizens to foster unity and social harmony.

He noted that the country’s true strength lies in its diversity and called on Nigerians to overcome differences and divisions by cultivating shared goals and aspirations.

The former president also reached out to Nigerians in the diaspora, reminding them of their vital role in national progress. He stressed that fostering a sense of collective responsibility is essential for transforming Nigeria into a nation where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

As Muslims around the country gather to mark Eid-el-Kabir, Jonathan’s message serves as a reminder that festivals can be more than religious observances—they can also be moments to reflect on national identity, purpose, and the power of unity in overcoming challenges and building a future of shared prosperity.
