Troops and CJTF foil Boko Haram supply route in Yobe, neutralize terrorist

Security forces in Yobe State, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have successfully disrupted a key Boko Haram supply route, leading to the neutralisation of one terrorist and the recovery of weapons.

The operation, which took place in a remote area of the state, targeted insurgents attempting to transport arms and logistics to their hideouts.

According to military sources, troops acting on credible intelligence ambushed the terrorists as they moved supplies through a known smuggling corridor. A brief exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the death of one militant while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The security forces recovered ammunition, food supplies, and communication devices, dealing a significant setback to the terrorist group’s operations in the region.

The CJTF, a local vigilante group working alongside the military, played a crucial role in providing ground intelligence and support during the operation. Their knowledge of the terrain and community networks has been instrumental in tracking insurgent movements and cutting off their supply lines.

Residents in nearby communities have expressed relief at the increased military presence and proactive measures against Boko Haram. However, they also called for sustained operations to ensure the terrorists do not regroup.

Military officials have assured the public that operations will continue to dismantle remaining insurgent cells and restore security in the region.

This latest success follows recent efforts by Nigerian forces and CJTF to degrade Boko Haram’s capabilities in the Northeast. Authorities have urged civilians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
