Former Kano State governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has strongly condemned the recent attack on a wedding in Plateau State, which left several people dead.
Describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable, Kwankwaso called on the federal government to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Kwankwaso expressed deep sorrow over the violence, emphasising that such acts of brutality have no place in a civilised society.
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and urged security agencies to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property across the country.
Kwankwaso also used the opportunity to reiterate his demand for justice for the victims of the 2015 Zaria massacre, where members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) were killed during a clash with the military.
He stressed that unresolved cases of violence only perpetuate a cycle of impunity and injustice, undermining national unity.
The NNPP leader called for a comprehensive approach to addressing insecurity, including dialogue, community engagement, and equitable development. He warned that without lasting solutions, the country risks further instability.
Kwankwaso urged leaders at all levels to prioritise peace and work towards fostering harmony among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over rising violence in several parts of the country, with citizens calling for stronger action from the government to ensure safety and justice for all.
