President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to officially enact four new tax reform bills into law on Thursday, June 26, 2025, as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to improve Nigeria’s fiscal policy framework.

The bills, which have already been passed by the National Assembly, aim to streamline taxation processes, boost government revenue, and create a more business-friendly environment.

The proposed legislation includes revisions to existing tax laws, with particular focus on reducing multiple taxation burdens that have long been a concern for both local and international investors. One of the key bills introduces tax incentives for specific industries to stimulate economic growth, while another focuses on improving tax compliance through digital modernisation of collection systems.

Presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale confirmed the scheduled signing ceremony, stating that the reforms align with the administration’s commitment to enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

These bills represent a significant step in our journey toward a more efficient and equitable tax system that supports economic development while reducing unnecessary burdens on businesses and individuals,” Ngelale said.

Economic analysts have welcomed the impending reforms, noting that they could help attract foreign investment and reduce tax evasion. However, some stakeholders have called for proper implementation mechanisms to ensure the new policies achieve their intended objectives without placing additional strain on small businesses.

The bill signing ceremony will take place at the State House in Abuja, with key government officials, business leaders, and representatives from the organised private sector expected to attend. These tax reforms form part of broader economic transformation initiatives under President Tinubu’s administration.
