Former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has spoken highly of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s character, describing him as a leader uninterested in material pursuits and deeply committed to Nigeria’s progress.
Gowon made these remarks on Wednesday during the public presentation.
Yakubu Gowon emphasises the crucial role of communication in governance and national development. Reflecting on Buhari’s leadership, the former head of state stated, “I know General Buhari to be a staunch believer in the Nigerian project.
I know him as a person not inclined to worldly or materialistic overtures.” He added that Buhari consistently prioritised protecting his integrity, saying, “I also know that he will do everything to keep his integrity intact.”
Highlighting Buhari’s disciplined lifestyle, Yakubu Gowon remarked, “If the truth must be told, Gen. Buhari is a man of austere lifestyle.” The former military leader noted that Buhari’s dedication to Nigeria’s welfare was beyond question, stating that no one could doubt his genuine concern for the nation.
