Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has declared that he is unshaken by any political forces in the state as the 2027 general election approaches.

The governor asserted during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, dismissing speculation about a possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) amid the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Lawal expressed confidence in his administration’s performance, stating that his commitment to delivering democratic dividends leaves no room for fear. “When I contested in 2023, all these forces were present,” he said, referencing prominent political figures in Zamfara who were then in the APC.

He listed former governors Sani Yerima, Mahmud Shinkafi, Abdul’aziz Yari, and Bello Matawalle, along with their deputies, senators, and House of Representatives members, all of whom were in the APC at the time. Despite their influence, Lawal secured victory.

“What difference will it make now?” he asked. “There is nothing new as far as that is concerned. We understand the political trend, and we are firmly on the ground.” The governor emphasised that his faith and governance record strengthen his resolve.

“I’m not scared of anybody. God has given me this position, and based on what we are doing—delivering the good aspects of democracy—I see no reason to fear anyone except God.”

Lawal described himself as a principled politician, not driven by desperation. “For now, in Zamfara State, given our work, there is nothing to be scared of regarding any political forces,” he declared. His remarks reinforce his determination to remain steadfast in his political stance ahead of the next election cycle.
