The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, demanding an investigation and possible prosecution of veteran Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over an altercation involving a ValueJet aircraft.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the musician allegedly attempted to obstruct the plane from taxiing after being offloaded for reportedly carrying a flask of alcohol onboard.
Authorities have condemned K1’s actions as a serious violation of aviation safety protocols and standard operational procedures.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NCAA called for a thorough investigation into the matter, urging the Attorney-General and the police chief to pursue legal action in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and other relevant laws.
Additionally, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo has advised the Airline Operators of Nigeria to place the musician on a No-Fly List pending the conclusion of investigations. The move aims to reinforce compliance with aviation rules and deter future breaches that could compromise passenger safety.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many emphasising the importance of adhering to aviation regulations, regardless of an individual’s status.
