Moses Itauma stuns Dillian Whyte with first-round knockout, announces himself as Britain’s next heavyweight star

Moses Itauma delivered a stunning statement on Saturday night, knocking out former world title challenger Dillian Whyte in just 119 seconds to solidify his status as Britain’s next heavyweight sensation.

Headlining a card for the first time, the 20-year-old prodigy made light work of his most experienced opponent yet, flooring Whyte with a thunderous right hand. Though the 37-year-old veteran beat the referee’s count, the fight was waved off, handing Itauma his 13th consecutive professional win—11 of them by knockout.

Born in Slovakia but fighting out of Britain, Itauma has built a reputation for explosive finishes, with eight of his victories coming in the first round. His poise and precision drew high praise from promoter Frank Warren, who remarked on his maturity beyond his years.

“He fights better than guys at their peak, and he’s only 20,” Warren told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Whyte, considered in the best shape of his career, had no answer for Itauma’s power, succumbing to a sharp right hook that left his future in the division uncertain. Ringside observers, including heavyweights Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora, and Lawrence Okolie, witnessed the young fighter’s dominant display.

Though Moses Itauma narrowly missed becoming the youngest heavyweight champion earlier this year, this victory thrusts him into title contention. With Tyson Fury retired, Anthony Joshua nearing the end of his career, and Daniel Dubois recently dethroned, the path is clearing for Britain’s newest boxing hope. “I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me,” Itauma declared post-fight, leaving fans eager for his next move.
