A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged opposition politicians under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to refrain from dragging President Bola Tinubu’s name into their cases.

Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker advised them to focus on defending themselves rather than making unsubstantiated claims of political persecution.

Oyintiloye, who served on the APC Presidential Campaign Council, emphasised that the EFCC’s investigations are based on petitions and constitutional mandates, not political motives.

He clarified that the anti-graft agency operates without bias, probing both ruling and opposition party members when financial misconduct allegations arise. The APC chieftain stressed that opposition status does not grant immunity from accountability, urging those under scrutiny to address the allegations against them instead of resorting to blackmail.

He dismissed claims that the president influences EFCC operations, describing Tinubu as a leader committed to integrity and the rule of law. “The EFCC has a statutory duty to investigate financial crimes involving public officials, regardless of political affiliation,” Oyintiloye stated. He cautioned against politicizing the commission’s work, emphasising that the current administration has zero tolerance for corruption.

The APC stalwart reaffirmed that the Tinubu government prioritises transparency and will not interfere with legitimate anti-corruption efforts. He called on opposition members to cooperate with investigations if they have nothing to hide, rather than attempting to discredit the process. Oyintiloye’s remarks come amid ongoing EFCC probes into several high-profile cases involving politicians from various parties.
