The Jigawa State Police Command has taken into custody a 25-year-old man in connection with the tragic death of his mother.
The suspect, identified as Jibrin Ado from Daneji village, is alleged to have participated in a violent attack on his mother based on suspicions of witchcraft. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 26, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m.
According to reports, Jibrin Ado conspired with four other individuals, Musa Kwalle, Dan Abba, Sule Musa, and a person known only as Arrow, all residents of Gerawa Village.
The group forcibly trespassed into the home of the suspect’s father, Adamu Saleh. Once inside, they allegedly subjected Saleh’s wife, 50-year-old Magajiya Ado, to a severe beating using heavy sticks.
The assault was carried out under the accusation that the woman was engaged in witchcraft. The attack left the victim unconscious.
She was urgently transported to the General Hospital in Ringim to receive medical attention.
Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away while undergoing treatment. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the details of the incident.
Sources indicate that the victim’s remains have been released to her family and that burial rites have been conducted.
While Jibrin Ado has been apprehended by the police, his four alleged accomplices remain at large.
The case highlights the persistent and deadly consequences of witchcraft accusations in certain communities.
The Jigawa State Police continue their investigation and are pursuing leads to locate and arrest the remaining suspects involved in this fatal attack.
