The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially called upon dissenting members to seek judicial recourse if they contest the party’s current leadership under former Senate President David Mark.
This declaration came from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, during a televised interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ program on Thursday.
The statement follows the recent recognition of Mark’s leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), effectively resolving a period of uncertainty within the party’s hierarchy.
Abdullahi addressed concerns that had emerged among party members regarding INEC’s delayed position on the leadership matter, emphasising that the electoral body’s formal confirmation has now provided clarity and stability.
This recognition enables the party to move forward with administrative processes, including the formal registration of new members.
The spokesman firmly stated that the ADC is not engaged in any internal leadership struggle, asserting that the matter has been conclusively determined through proper regulatory channels.
The party’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to unity and progress under David Mark’s guidance while maintaining that legitimate grievances should be addressed through appropriate legal mechanisms.
Abdullahi’s comments underscore the party’s dedication to procedural correctness and institutional resolution of disputes, reflecting a broader commitment to strengthening democratic processes within Nigeria’s political landscape. The resolution of this leadership question allows the ADC to focus on its political objectives and organisational development without further internal distractions.
