Job Description
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, accounts payable/receivable, Fixed assets, Inventory etc.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, accounts payable/receivable, Fixed assets, Inventory etc.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax regulations, prepare and file tax returns, and handle any tax-related inquiries.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and reports for timely month, quarterly & year end closings, budgets for management review, providing insights and analysis as needed.
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, providing necessary schedules, documentation and support.
- Oversee payroll activities, including reconciliation, disbursement, and compliance per HR guidelines.
- Conduct ledger analysis, variance analysis, assess financial performance, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining financial processes and implementing best practices.
- Ensure reconciliation of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Contract Assets, Contract Liabilities, Bank etc.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN) is preferred.
- 4-6 years of proven experience as an Accountant in Nigeria, preferably in an engineering, manufacturing or oil and gas company.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel (Intermediate to advanced excel skills) and SAGE X3 ERP systems.
