Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka’s polling unit in Lagos was again attacked by thugs, according to her social media post, the actress alleged that the group of thugs had knives, bottles, and a gun, and they prevented people from filming with their phones.
In a video shared by the actress, a crowd of voters was seen standing outside the polling unit, afraid to go in after the reported attack. She said that the violence during this election was worse than what she experienced during the presidential election.
Chukwuka said that the thugs came for her when they saw her with her phone and tried to attack her. She had to get into her car and drive off, but they damaged her car. The actress noted that they even prevented people from making phone calls.
The Nollywood star said that she drove to a police truck to report the attack before driving home. She also expressed concern about the safety of people who have to cast their votes in the area.
Chioma Chukwuka has been vocal about the violence and disruption during elections in Nigeria. In a previous interview, she urged the government to ensure free and fair elections, stating that violence and intimidation during elections were a threat to democracy.
The actress is one of the many Nigerians who have called for peaceful and fair elections in the country. Many have also criticized the government’s response to election violence and intimidation, saying that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of voters and electoral officials.
