New Zealand actor Sam Neill recently shared that he is undergoing treatment for stage-three blood cancer. The 75-year-old actor, best known for his roles in “Jurassic Park” and “The Piano”, disclosed the news in the first chapter of his upcoming memoir, “Did I Ever Tell You This”. He wrote that he is “possibly dying” and has a “ferocious type of aggressive” non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In an interview with The Guardian, Neill said that he loves working and being around people, but his illness has left him with nothing to do. To occupy himself, he began writing his memoir, which he found increasingly engrossing. He never intended to write a book but found that it gave him a reason to live, saying that he would go to bed thinking-

“I’ll write about that tomorrow…that will entertain me.”

Neill sought medical treatment after noticing lumpy glands on his neck during a publicity tour for the film Jurassic World Dominion. Despite the seriousness of his diagnosis, he stayed calm and began plotting to write a book about his life. He wrote the entire book himself without the help of a ghostwriter and is proud that it has come out in record time.

Sam Neill’s positive attitude and determination to continue working and writing even in the face of illness is an inspiration to many. We wish him all the best in his treatment and recovery.
