Adamu Garba links banditry to threat against Nigeria’s food sovereignty

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has issued a stark warning that the ongoing activities of terrorists and bandits are systematically destroying Nigeria’s food security and sovereignty.

In a statement released on his official social media page, Garba argued that the primary destructive impact of these criminal elements is the near-total decimation of the agricultural sector, achieved by displacing farmers from their lands and rustling cattle on an industrial scale.

Adamu Garba posited that the beneficiaries of this instability are powerful interests who seek to profit by flooding the Nigerian market with imported food products.

He described these imports as “garbage,” consisting of chemically combined and hybrid foods designed to force accelerated growth, comparing their effect on humans to the way chickens and fish are grown in controlled agricultural environments.

He warned that failure to take urgent action would lead to a future where citizens consume nutritionally empty, chemically altered foods, resulting in a population that is physically and mentally disoriented.

The former aspirant framed the conflicts in the nation’s most fertile regions as a clandestine operation benefiting those who profit from the lack of local food production.

He called for the situation to be treated as a national emergency, emphasising the critical need to safely restore farmers to their lands and secure herders and their livestock.

Adamu Garba urged authorities to recognise the grave threat and act with the greatest sense of urgency to ensure the survival and prosperity of future generations, safeguarding the quality of life and health of the Nigerian people.
