Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has been elected President-Elect of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.
Osigwe, the former NBA Secretary-General, received the most votes for president in the 2024 NBA election, which was held online.
Similarly, Mrs Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe was named the association’s Publicity Secretary.
The voting began on Saturday at 12 a.m. and finished at 1.59 p.m., with live results for all NBA positions presented in real-time.
Osigwe received 20,395 votes, defeating his closest competitor and head of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, Tobenna Erojikwe, who received 10,970 votes, and former NBA Lagos Branch chairman Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, who received 9,007 votes.
Osigwe will succeed the outgoing NBA president, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN.
