The African Development Bank (AfDB) has obtained $110,000 in financing from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) for Ekiti State to aid the construction of the State Electricity Priority Plan (SEPP).

Prof. Bolaji Aluko, Ekiti State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, announced this in Ado Ekiti. He stated that the approved funding was in response to the state’s request for grant funding to support the establishment of the Power Sector Reform Desk in his Ministry to mainstream decentralised renewable energy solutions.

Aluko explained that the funding approval obtained through the Africa Energy Sector Technical Assistance Programme, AESTAP, window would sponsor three State delegates to attend a hybrid training course on Power Sector regulation at the Africa School of Regulation, ASR, as well as consulting services.

Aluko pledged that the Ministry will do all possible to maintain the state’s consistent supply of energy, drinkable water, prompt fire services, and an effective telecommunications infrastructure.
