The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has swiftly responded to circulating rumors about the demise of their ailing colleague, Zack Orji.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Rollas clarified that Zack Orji is alive and urged the public to disregard the rumours spread by mischief-makers. He condemned such actions as wicked and unacceptable, emphasizing that Orji is still among the living.

Last year, reports surfaced regarding Zack Orji’s critical condition, stating that he was battling for his life in the ICU of the National Hospital in Abuja. Despite his health struggles, notable figures like the Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa, and Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, showed support by visiting him. In January, Musawa provided an update, revealing that Orji had undergone brain surgery at a private hospital in Abuja.

The news of Orji’s false death comes amidst a series of recent losses in the Nollywood community. Amaechi Muonagor, a veteran actor battling kidney disease, passed away on March 24th. Prior to Muonagor’s demise, Nollywood producer and marketer, Ikechukwu Nnadi, also known as Andy Best, succumbed to illness in Owerri.

The industry mourned the loss of Yoruba actor Sisi Quadri in February, who fell victim to kidney-related complications. As Quadri was being laid to rest, the industry suffered another blow with the passing of veteran actor Mr. Ibu due to a cardiac arrest after a prolonged illness.
