According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Ahli appears to have reached an “agreement in principle” with Premier League team Newcastle United regarding the transfer of talented winger Allan Saint-Maximin. The 26-year-old is being offered a lucrative salary of over €12 million annually to join Al Ahli, and he now faces the decision of accepting the offer on the table, which seems to be the path he is currently leaning towards.

Manager Eddie Howe recently confirmed that the player is in talks to depart from St. James’ Park this summer, especially since he didn’t participate in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory against Rangers.

Since joining Newcastle in 2019 from Nice, the French winger has amassed 124 appearances for the club across all competitions, netting 13 goals and providing 21 assists. However, his time at Newcastle has been plagued by consistent injury issues.

In joining Al Ahli, Allan Saint-Maximin could potentially team up with former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and ex-Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, as Al Ahli is also reportedly nearing a deal to sign Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

Al Ahli is expected to finalize the deal for Riyad Mahrez today and will then proceed to secure the transfer of Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle. The final transfer fee is estimated to be around €30 million. This move comes as Newcastle are all set to sign Harvey Barnes, signaling their readiness to part ways with Saint-Maximin as he prepares to join the Saudi Arabian side soon.
