The Niger State Judicial Service Commission has terminated three senior staff members and degraded one by two grade levels for alleged misconduct.
Hajiya Hauwa Isa, the commission’s Secretary, made the announcement on Monday in Mina.
Isa stated that the impacted employees were Mohammed Abubakar, Ahmed Usman, and Usman Isah from the High Court Division, while Fatima Sambo was demoted two grade levels.
She further stated that the dismissal was the consequence of alleged significant wrongdoing that violated Article 58 of the commission’s regulations.
Isa said, Mohammed Abubakar, a traditional title holder of “Galadima Raba Nupe,” was found guilty under regulations 58 (1) (1) (111) and (v) for disobeying lawful commands.
According to the statement, Abubakar refused to continue with the move and has been away from duty since November 2023 without permission or sufficient cause.
Isa further stated that in exercising its disciplinary powers under the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the commission conducted its 143rd emergency meeting on Thursday.
According to the Niger Judicial Commission:
“The commission dismissed three staff and demoted one under the provisions of Regulations 72 and 73 of the Commission’s Regulations 2018..
“The three dismissed staff who are all from the High Court division are: Mohammed Abubakar (Galadiman Raba Nupe), Ahmed Usman, and Usman Isah,while Fatima Sambo was demoted by two grade levels.
”The dismissal of the three staff was as a result of acts amounting to serious misconduct in contravention of regulation 58 of the commission’s regulations.”
