George Adegeye, a member representing the Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency in the lower house, has provided free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination forms to over 1,000 impoverished pupils.
Adegeye, in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, stated that the gesture was intended to ensure the educational standards of youngsters in the area.
According to him, many families’ financial incapability has been a big obstacle to the country’s educational growth.
He said:
“Tertiary education has the potential of building a virile and viable community but the major setback encountered by many families is financial constraints.
“The free UTME forms initiative is geared towards alleviating the financial burden many families have to bear within the constituency and ensuring that a good number of youths are not denied the opportunity to further their education due to financial constraints.”
