Inspector General Redeploys 86 DCPs, 206 ACPs

According to the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement released to newsmen said, “no, they are not set free, an investigation is ongoing, and the IGP has formed a panel to investigate and submit a report within two weeks. So, we are on it.

The Police Inspector-General, Uthman Al-Kalli Baba launched a special investigation team into allegations of extrajudicial killings, corruption and high-handedness against some police officers at Zone 13 Command, Ukpo Dunukofia Anambra State Command.

The anonymous blog Gistlover had previously published an article alleging that Senior Police Officer and Chief of Police (CSP) Patrick Agbazoe in Anambra State was involved in the kidnapping, torture and murder of civilians.

The blog went on to argue that Agbazue and his team were worse off than their infamous predecessor James Nwafor, who claimed they were released after being charged with similar crimes during his tenure as head of the Special Robbery Unit.

Reacting to the allegations, Adejobi said;

“the IG has set up a special investigation panel under the IG’s Monitoring and Mentoring Unit to commence investigations into some weighty allegations of unprofessionalism, high-handedness, and extra-judicial killings levelled against its officers serving at the Zone 13 Command, Ukpo-Dunukofia, and the Anambra State Command on social media platforms”.
