Arteta – “I have Respect for Klopp”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted he is inspired by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. He said this in an interview ahead of the teams’ clash in Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool is currently winless in their last three league matches, failing to score in two of them. However, Arsenal is winless in nine Premier League away fixtures against Liverpool. They last won a league match at Anfield in 2012 when current manager Mikel Arteta was in the team.

Asked if he is inspired by Klopp, Arteta said:

For sure, coming from abroad, the way he did it, the way he installed that clear identity, values and the way he transmitted and everybody bought his ideas so early. He needed some time and then results came up in the best possible way. So yeah, for sure.

Arsenal sits eight points clear at the top of the Premier League having shocked almost everyone with a superb title charge. Jurgen Klopp’s men however find themselves down in 8th place, 10 points off the Champions League places.

The Gunners could be without a number of key players for the clash on Merseyside with some fresh injury concerns likely bothering Arteta. Liverpool on the other hand has been handed a timely boost with Thiago back in training and Luis Diaz stepping up his recovery.

Both teams face each other at Anfield on Sunday. A win would keep Arsenal safe at the top and maintain their eight-point lead above Manchester City.  A win for Liverpool on the other hand will keep their top-four hopes alive.
