The Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, Gombe State University branch, has issued a two-week deadline to the state government and university administration to answer its demands.
In a resolution which was signed by branch chairman Dr. Suleiman Jauro and Dr. M. Muhammad; the branch declared that if its demands are not honoured, it will examine alternative legal options.

The congress expressed concern about the state’s economic predicament, which has had a substantial influence on the well-being of members who are due pay.
The resolution partly reads:
“The Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Gombe State University chapter, at its congress meeting, held today, March 28, 2024, deliberated extensively on issues affecting the well-being of its members.
“The congress frowned at the failure of the university administration to address the issues affecting the well-being of its members, which is currently affecting the morale of academic staff in the university.
“Morale of staff has been on the decline due to failure of the university to address the welfare issues of staff amidst the socio-economic challenges in the country.”
