Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has penned a heartfelt note to celebrate his second daughter, Ayomide, on her 3rd birthday.
Taking to Instagram, AY shared adorable photos of Ayomide from her birthday shoot, expressing his gratitude for her presence in his life. Reflecting on the years of waiting and hoping before her arrival, AY described her as a “precious gift” and a “shining light.”
In his touching message, AY wrote:
Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter Ayomide (My Joy Has Come)!
Today, I celebrate you turning 3 years old, and even though I do not see you to run around with like I used to, I couldn’t be more grateful for every moment we’ve shared.You are a precious gift that came after 13 years of waiting and hoping. Your arrival confirmed my belief in the power of love and faith.
Though so many unrepairable occurrences have engulfed the unit we once called family, I do know that you are deeply loved by your mum and me. Your laughter, curiosity, and sweet spirit bring so much happiness to everyone around you.
May this special day be filled with fun, cake, and all the things you love. You are a true blessing, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you will do as you grow.”
Mabel Makun, AY’s estranged wife, also joined in celebrating Ayomide. Sharing her own tribute, she expressed gratitude to God for the gift of their daughter, writing:
Happy birthday God’s favorite, heaven’s shining star Ayomide MAKUN. We are super grateful to God almighty for honoring us with your presence in our lives.”
In April 2023, AY confirmed the end of his nearly 20-year marriage with Mabel. While expressing regrets over the separation, he admitted to making compromises during the marriage and cautioned against harmful narratives about their family, especially for the sake of their teenage daughter.
Mabel, on her part, pleaded for privacy, stating that her dreams of a lifelong marriage had taken a different turn. She also addressed false reports about her but chose not to engage in public disputes for the sake of their children.
Despite their differences, both parents have shown a united front in celebrating Ayomide, emphasizing their love for her and the joy she brings to their lives.
AY’s love for his children extends beyond Ayomide. In the past, he expressed pride in his first daughter, Michelle Makun, when she created a vlog about his movie premiere. The comedian acknowledged her efforts and humorously thanked her for contributing toward her school fees.
As Ayomide clocks three, it’s clear that both AY and Mabel remain dedicated to celebrating and cherishing their children, despite the complexities of their relationship.
