Barcelona Faces Hurdles with New Manager Hansi Flick Due to Financial Issues

Barcelona is struggling to register their new manager, Hansi Flick, and his staff with La Liga because of ongoing financial problems.

Barcelona, still in deep financial trouble, cannot officially register Hansi Flick and his team. Marca reports that this problem is linked to their current financial state.

Flick, the former Bayern Munich and German national team coach, signed a two-year contract with Barcelona last Wednesday after the abrupt sacking of Xavi. Xavi had a tumultuous relationship with the club’s board in his final months.

Barcelona’s financial issues are not new. In past seasons, they faced delays in registering new players, even after official announcements. This ongoing issue highlights the severe financial mismanagement at the club.

To combat their financial woes, Barcelona sold 49% of ‘Barca Studios’ to investors two years ago, aiming for quick cash. Despite this, they are still waiting for a crucial £85.5 million ($109m) payment from Libero, who bought the stake.

Additionally, they expect another significant financial boost from a similar deal with kit supplier Nike. Both payments are essential for registering Flick and new players.

Barcelona must also lower their wage bill to meet La Liga’s financial rules, adding another layer of complexity. Balancing their finances while staying competitive on the field is a tough challenge. Xavi, in his final match as manager, warned that his successor would face significant difficulties due to the club’s financial constraints.

The situation underscores the daunting task ahead for Barcelona as they try to navigate their financial troubles and maintain their status in the competitive world of football.
