Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed a Chinese national, Mr Li Zhensheng, as Economic Adviser to the State Government.

The appointment was announced during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed said the decision was part of his administration’s strategy to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation.

He explained that the partnership would drive investment and infrastructure development while promoting bilateral initiatives in key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.

As part of the agreement, Bauchi will establish a representative office in China to coordinate projects, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.

The governor stressed that the collaboration aligns with the broader diplomatic framework between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. He added that it is expected to boost foreign direct investment, create job opportunities, improve skills, modernise critical sectors, and raise the state’s global profile.

In his response, Mr Zhensheng, who also serves as Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilise resources to support Bauchi’s economic transformation.

He assured that the partnership would deliver sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods for the people of Bauchi.
