Bauchi State Government has announced that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is now compulsory for all students in both public and private schools across the state.
This directive, issued on May 21, 2025, aims to ensure that every student completing basic education acquires the necessary certification to support future academic advancement.
According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education, Mr. Jalaludeen Usman, the BECE certificate is a critical requirement for entry into senior secondary schools and other higher learning institutions.
He emphasised that ensuring students obtain this certificate will solidify their academic foundation and adequately prepare them for the next phase of their education.
This policy is part of broader reforms being implemented under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed to enhance the quality of education across the state.
The ministry has urged parents, guardians, and school administrators to ensure that all eligible students are properly registered and take part in the BECE examination.
