Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has promised and vowed to eradicate corruption in the state’s education system.

Alia made this commitment at a public lecture and book launch hosted by Dr Terna Francis, Director General of the Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency.

The event’s theme was “Nigeria: 25 Years of Uninterrupted Democracy”.

According to the governor, his government is dedicated to combating all types of corruption in the education system and bringing it up to global standards.

He went on to say that battling corruption required more than just words, and that the problem had spread from families to society as a whole.

Alia, on the other hand, urged attitude adjustment in order to make meaningful success in the country’s current anti-corruption campaign.

He said:

“Change must begin with all of us; let us be the mirror of what we anticipate.

”When we talk of moral corruption at the national level, we should remember that it starts right from the primary school to homes, associations, the streets.

”But we will start somewhere, and the starting point will be the education sector.”
