US President Joe Biden has announced his team of delegates to attend Bola Tinubu’s inauguration. On May 29 in Eagle Square, Abuja, the former governor of Lagos State will take the oath of office as Nigeria’s 16th president.
Past presidents, diplomats, leaders of international organisations, well-known Nigerians, and officials of foreign governments and organisations are also anticipated at the nation’s seventh transition ceremony.
The official start of the inauguration festivities will be Tinubu’s investiture as Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic. Furthermore, Kashim Shettima’s investiture as Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on Thursday.
The high-profile event is scheduled to draw representatives from Nigeria’s traditional allies, which include the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Additionally, France, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, and others.
Biden further announced a nine-person delegation for the inauguration on Monday night. The statement was accordingly posted on the White House website.
Furthermore, Marcia L. Fudge, secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be the delegation’s head.
