The House of Representatives has requested that the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and distribution firms (DISCOs) rescind the pricing increase for Band A users.
The directive was issued on Tuesday following the approval of a report provided by the House Committee on Power.
It would be recalled that NERC announced an increase that affect Band A subscribers, who will be charged N225 per kilowatt.
In addition, the House has voted to investigate the tariff increase.
Victor Nwokolo, Chairman of the Committee on Power, stated during his presentation of the report that Nigerians cannot pay the increased rate.
The Committee advised a restoration to the status quo.
The Committee of the Whole approved the suggestions, which were thereafter passed.
