The N27.5 trillion 2024 Appropriations Bill was presented by President Bola Tinubu before a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The National Anthem was played as soon as the President entered the House of Representatives chamber at 11:13 a.m.

At 11:15 a.m., Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, summoned the House to order.

At 11:20 a.m., Akpabio started reading the welcoming speech.

Three weeks ago, Tinubu forwarded the Fiscal Strategy Paper and 2024–2026 MTEF to both houses in advance of today’s budget presentation.

The anticipated overall spending profile for the 2024 fiscal year was N26.1 trillion as stated by the document.

Following two weeks of interactive meetings with heads of ministries, departments, and agencies about income and spending estimates generated for them, the Senate, through its Committee on Finance, adopted the MTEF.

However, it was eventually modified to N27.5 trillion, as shown today.
