China on Tuesday announced the full reopening of its borders after three years of strict coronavirus measures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement in Beijing, stating that from Wednesday “all types of visas for foreigners will be issued again”.

China reopened its borders in early January, mainly for business travellers and family visits.

Tourists are allowed to enter the country regularly again, while visa-free entry to some regions is also restored.

Long-term visa, which was issued before the border closure on March 28, 2020, can also be reused, according to the statement.
