The “2023 Compulsory Confirmation/Promotion Examinations” will take place in August and September for newly hired medical professionals, nurses, teachers, engineers, paramilitary personnel, and certain other categories of professionals working for the Federal Government.
This is according to a memo that was released from the Office of the Head of the Federal Civil Service on Tuesday.
The memo, dated June 20, was signed by the head of the civil service, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, and was sent to many people, including the chief of staff to the president, the office of the secretary general of the federation, the chief justice of Nigeria, and the chairs of commissions, agencies, and parastatals.
According to the memo, top officials are to pay “a non-refundable examination fee of N5,000 is payable by each candidate. As the cost of materials and logistics/transport/venues for the conduct of the examinations. As approved by the Federal Public Service Examination Board.”
However, junior officers will make a payment of N3,000.
The memo made it clear that “The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has approved the conduct/management of the year 2023 Compulsory Confirmation/Promotion Examination for newly-appointed administrative officers, foreign affairs officers, executive officers, police officers, paramilitary and other professionals in the Federal Public Service.”
In accordance with the memo, the test—which will be administered by the Career Management Office. Of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation—”is a statutory requirement for career progression. Of all staff in the public service.”
The document further stated that the tests, which will be administered in all states of the union. Will be held between Tuesday, August 22, and Friday, August 25, 2023, for junior officers. And from September 19 to September 22, 2023, for senior officers.
The memo further noted that “Any officer who fails to pass the examinations after three consecutive attempts. Shall be required to resign or withdraw from the service in accordance with Public Service Rules 060203 and 060204”.
