Court Jails Four For Internet Fraud, EFCC Arrests 33 More Suspects

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had detained 33 people for alleged internet scam in Benin City and obtained prison sentences for four online fraudsters from a State High Court sitting in Benin, the capital of Edo State.

In separate announcements issued by the anti-graft agency on Tuesday through its Twitter handle, @officialEFFCC, claimed that Belebi Koko, 22, Igwe Favour, 22, Destiny Igwe, 24, and Ojo Jolly, 25, were convicted and sentenced by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of the State High Court.

The commission stated in its report that “Justice Ikponmwonba convicted and sentenced Favour, Igwe, Koko and Jolly to three years imprisonment with an option of N200,00 as a fine.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC stated in a different statement on Tuesday that its agents in the Benin Zonal Command had arrested the following suspects, Timothy Odion, Destiny Otokhune, Bright Akhabue, Isaac Eghosa, Philip Anderson, Kennedy Osagie, Kabiru Mohammed, Erharuyi Osaigbovo, Amalawa Kingsĺey, Obasohen Kelvin and Emmanuel Imuentinyan.

Others include Eghosa Osadebamwen, Akhere Destiny, Evans Jesse, Kazeem Samson, Luma Kayode, Festus Iyenfunmwena, Osagie Emmanuel, Chinoso Okoye, Michael Okoh, Yadina Chukwudi, Kelvin Amenze, Aikorogie Osarenmweda and Samuyi Ajayi.

Other suspects include Sylvester Anointed, Ekhator Osamudiamwen, Oneh Endurance, Etinosa Ogieva, Marvellous Osawaru, Akhere Jeffrey, Oweka Augustine, George Festus and Lucky Junior.

The agency further stated that items collected from the suspects at the time of arrest included six exotic automobiles, laptops and mobile phones.
