The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered Nigerian billionaire and former Honeywell Group Chairman, Oba Otudeko, to take a plea in the N30 billion loan fraud case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke issued the order on Monday, emphasizing that Otudeko must enter a plea before any application challenging the court’s jurisdiction can be considered.
The EFCC had filed a 13-count charge against Oba Otudeko and three others over alleged financial misconduct. However, Otudeko has denied the allegations, previously refuting them in a statement last month.
During a hearing on January 20, Bode Olanipekun, Oba Otudeko’s counsel, had protested the charges in court.
Justice Aneke adjourned the case to May 8 for further proceedings.
