Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has directed that Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, be held in Kuje jail awaiting the outcome of his bail application.
Emefiele will be held in prison until the court rules on his bail petition on November 22.
His principal attorney, Mathew Burkaa SAN, filed the bail application, which was vigorously challenged by Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Federal Government.
After hearing arguments for and against the motion, Justice Muazu stated that a bench decision could not be issued due to the numerous authorities mentioned by both sides.
The Judge stated that he required some time to review the authorities and go over the materials provided by Emefiele to support his bail plea.
At the time of writing, authorities from the Kuje jail administration had been called to arrange for a vehicle to transport him to prison.
