A Federal Capital Territory High Court has ordered that the movement of protesters of the August 1 hunger strike against the federal government be limited to the MKO Abiola Stadium, commonly known as the National Stadium in Abuja.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji gave the judgment on Wednesday in Abuja while deciding on an ex parte case filed before him by the Minister of the FCT.

In the ex parte application argued by Chief Ogwu James Onoja, the Federal Capital Territory Minister sought an order of interim injunction prohibiting the five leaders of the protesting groups from gathering or parading themselves along any roadway, streets, offices, or public premises within the FCT between August 1 and 10, or any other day thereafter, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

He also requested another order of temporary injunction directing security forces to ban protesting leaders from assembling or parading themselves along any roadway, office, or public premises in the FCT between August 1 and 10, pending the hearing of his application on notice.
