Dalung Affirms ADC’s Status as a Registered Political Party

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Sports and a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has firmly dismissed recent characterisations of the party as a mere association.

Appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Dalung asserted that the ADC is unequivocally a registered political party with a significant history, having been in existence for over nineteen years.

He addressed the current developments within the party, clarifying that it is undergoing a structured transition process. This process involves the formal incorporation of various coalition groups into the ADC’s official framework.

Dalung elaborated that this integration is being conducted meticulously and in full compliance with legal and electoral guidelines. The procedure includes the preparation and submission of proper documentation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), notably the transfer of signature specimens from the new coalition leaders. This step, he explained, is crucial as it will allow INEC to complete its own verification and administrative procedures to formally recognize the expanded party structure.

Dalung emphasized the party’s unwavering commitment to adhering to the rule of law, stating that the ADC and its coalition partners are fundamentally dedicated to rescuing the nation from its current challenges.

He pointed out that the very mission of the coalition is to combat the injustice, impunity, and lack of internal democracy that have plagued the political landscape. Therefore, operating outside the legal framework would be contrary to its core objectives. He urged the public and party members to remain calm, assuring them that the transition is proceeding as planned and that there is absolutely no cause for panic.
