Nigerian music icon Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as Dbanj, has joined the celebration of Funke Akindele’s record-breaking achievement with her movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
The box office queen recently expressed her gratitude after the movie grossed a staggering ₦1.6 billion, surpassing her previous records. In an emotional message, Funke thanked her fans, supporters, and God for the success of her latest feat.
Dbanj, who was part of the Jenifa project, shared his excitement and appreciation on social media.
I must greet my sister and Executive Producer @funkejenifaakindele so specially! Congratulations on ₦1.6B. I’m so honored to have been part of such an amazing project! OoossSSsHhhEee,” Dbanj wrote.
Funke, in turn, acknowledged Dbanj’s unwavering support, noting how much of an impact he made.
Brother mi. Aw, thank you so much. It’s for us o. Congratulations to us. Your support really made an impact. God bless you always. Love you baje,” she replied.
Dbanj’s contribution to Funke Akindele’s Jenifa franchise has been significant over the years. During the premiere of Everybody Loves Jenifa, Funke revealed how Dbanj had halted his personal projects to support her vision, doing so without charge. She also recounted how the singer financially backed her at a crucial time, encouraging her to sustain the Jenifa brand.
At Dbanj’s anniversary dinner in June, Funke shared another heartfelt moment, recalling how the singer inspired her to keep the Jenifa brand alive. His support and belief in her work have undoubtedly helped propel the franchise to its current success.
