According to various sources, Manchested United goalkeeper David de Gea has turned down the Red Devils’ first contract offer.
The Spaniard’s current contract at Manchester United is set to expire in June 2023. The shot-stopper is currently the world’s highest-paid keeper drawing a weekly salary of more than £375,000.
The report mentions the club has made a good proposal to De Gea but the player is not convinced by the offer and feels that his remuneration does not do justice to his performances on the pitch.
The Spaniard joined Man Utd from Atletico Madrid in 2011, during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge at the club, with the 32-year-old going on to make 529 appearances for the Red Devils.
He has won four Players’ Player of the Year awards during that time and lifted the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
The goalkeeper will be back in action for Manchester United next time out at St James Park against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.
