The dismembered body found in Buttes-Chaumont, a park in Paris, France on Valentine’s day has been identified by the police as that of a woman. The staff of the park discovered the lower torso of the woman in a plastic bag on Tuesday,14th February. They contacted the police immediately. The next day, more remains were found alongside the decapitated head at the end of a disused railway line. It is the most gruesome incident to have happened at Buttes-Chaumont.
The identification of the victim was carried out using her fingerprint. It was reported to belong to a 46-year-old mum of three named, Assia Matoug. She had gone missing from her home in Seine-Saint-Denis, a northeastern district of the city, on January 31.
Her husband, Youcef Matoug, is said to have reported her missing on February 6, a week after she disappeared. However, the news of her death has left him in a ” state of great distress” as he has to take care of his children with the deceased while grieving. Yousef is reported to be “in a state of shock” and “too overcome with grief ” to speak to the police.
Following an investigation, the police revealed that there is a possibility that the woman was killed before being dismembered. Her body was still clothed in her floral-patterned jeans at the time the body parts were found.
According to a source;
Obviously, the body was cut dressed”
The remains of the victim still appear fresh which indicates a recent murder. while parts of her body were found in a wooded area of the 61-acre park, other parts were found in plastic bags.
The source revealed that;
The first bag was found in an area used by park workers to dump waste. It was hidden under a pile of leaves and inside was a section of body cut from below the chest to the knees.
Presently, the mystery behind Assia’s murder is yet to be unravelled as the police have no lead yet to hunt down her killer. Although, a major search operation has been embarked on by the police on Tuesday, February 14.
A diving team has also been called in to search the park’s lake following the discovery but no suspect has been identified yet.
We do hope the police are successful in their attempt to hunt down Assia’s killer. It’s our earnest prayer that the killer is brought to book.
