Music executive and talent boss Michael Collins, known as Don Jazzy, recently regretted not signing talented singers Teni and Simi in a candid interview.

The founder of Mavins Record revealed that he had the opportunity to sign Teni, but he hesitated and now deeply regrets his decision. Similarly, he admired Simi and admitted that he wished he had also signed her.

Don Jazzy further disclosed that he had the chance to sign Davido, but he believed in Davido’s ability to navigate his path to success. In the case of Wizkid, although he had an interest in signing him, Banky W secured the opportunity first, leaving Don Jazzy wishing he had gotten the chance. He also revealed plans to sign Falz, but unfortunately, those plans did not materialize.

Reflecting on missed opportunities, Don Jazzy’s openness reflects the challenges and unpredictability of the music industry. While he acknowledges his admiration for these talented artists, timing and circumstances played a significant role in these missed collaborations.

Fans and industry insiders alike can’t help but wonder how these dynamics would have influenced the careers of Teni, Simi, Davido, Wizkid, and Falz if their paths had intersected with Don Jazzy’s Mavins Record as well as how these missed opportunities could have shaped the trajectory of Nigerian music.
