Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has cautioned corps members not to defy the customs and traditions of the locations where they are stationed in order to serve their country.

He cautioned corps members against putting themselves in danger by going on perilous excursions such as night travels and other risky lifestyles.

Ahmed made this statement while addressing Corps members at the NYSC Edo and Delta State Orientation Camps.

He pointed out that the management placed great importance on all Corps members’ welfare and security, and advised them not to put themselves at risk.

The Director General also asked Corps members to settle down in their respective host areas after leaving the Orientation Camp and offer their quota to national development.

He further urged corps members to try to start community development initiatives that would assist their host communities.

According to the NYSC DG:

“Respect the culture and tradition of wherever you are posted to. Try and settle down in your places of primary assignment immediately you leave camp and serve diligently.

“Beware of bad friends and avoid every behaviour that can jeopardize your future. Your parents have laboured for you and this is the time you have to reap the fruits of your labour.”
